Dinnerware Discussions And How To's
| Would you use paper plates or fancy dinnerware? | | I know everyone wants to save money these days, yet who wants to do the dishes, right? My mom likes to use paper plates and cups for mealtimes, while I prefer some actual dinnerware. Maybe it is just me, but the meal experience is enhanced by actual ceramic or glass plates, and beautiful glasses. They are beautiful to look at. It also saves money to keep reusing (and washing) the dinnerware, in comparison to shopping for some cheap paper plates, plastic forks, and cups. To me, it is a cheap way to serve a meal, especially knowing the plastic dinnerware can break if there is too much weight from the food. Yet it is easier to throw them away afterwards instead of washing them. DO you prefer plastic dinnerware or glass and ceramic dinnerware? I guess it depends on the occassion of the meal. | |

| | | Burleighware - Burgess & Leigh Dinnerware | | These dishes were bought by my mother about 55 years ago for her wedding. They are cream coloured with a bunch of flowers right in the middle. the flowers are a pink rose, tulip, daisy and other flowers. Around the flower in a circle is a gold ring. Do you have any idea where I could get more of these dishes? or what the pattern is called? | |

| | | i have china dishes to sell | | I have a 30pc set of Wawel dishes from Poland, and I'm trying to sell them. I don't mean to promote it or anything, but I was wondering if anyone knew some good places where I can get some prices on my china dishes, or places to even sell it. If you can go local, I'm in Broward county, Florida, so I'd also like to know if anyone knows places around here that buys china dishes. Thanks a lot for the help, Mylotters!:) | |
| | How nit-picky are you about bringing out and using holiday items? | | This year is the first year I bought holiday glasses. In the past I've never had glasses made for a specific occasion, but these 1$ glasses were cute and had christmas stuff on them such as reindeer, wreaths and snowflakes. As I was putting dishes away today, I thought to myself "should I put those reindeer glasses away somewhere? If they stay in my cabinet, I'll end up having people grab them in the summer even, but then I thought... do I care? I actually like the size and shape of these glasses a lot so who cares if I use them all year round? It made me think of some people I know who rotate their entire kitchen every season and holiday. They put things away in boxes and only bring them out for the holiday. I can't handle all that organization, I'd forget I had the special christmas glasses. I think it's easier to keep these things in my kitchen and not buy more than I can fit in my cabinets. What about you? Do you have special holiday dinnerware? Do you rotate it out and make sure it all gets put away as soon as that holiday is over? Or do you just have a few things like I do and don't care if they are used year long??? | |
| | Half Of A Million Dollars For China? | | Okay, it's not quite that much...only $485,000.00.http://www.yahoo.com/s/1012443And at least it isn't taxpayer's money. But to spend that kind of money on plates?I guess if you're the President or his wife, you have to keep up appearances and all that, but still...Wouldyou spend a half-mil on dinnerware?y cabinets. What about you? Do you have special holiday dinnerware? Do you rotate it out and make sure it all gets put away as soon as that holiday is over? Or do you just have a few things like I do and don't care if they are used year long??? | |
| | Prices going down! | | Now this is good news. Good News Network quotes an article from CNBC[What Inflation? Some Items That Actually Cost Less, Friday June 13, 12:11 pm ET]The article says that while many prices are on the rise there are prices that are decreasing. They say that many electronics, women's clothes, hotel rooms, theme parks, and dinnerware are some of the ones priced lower.Jim Glassman, senior U.S. economist at JPMorgan Chase, says "The economy is not falling apart. It’s just stuck."The article says that "the consumer price index confirmed the predicted rise in gasoline and food costs, but core prices remained relatively flat."We can see the glass as half empty or half full. Where do you stand? | |
